Dante's hell

Per Dante, there are seven circles of hell. The great Greek philosophers, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato are all going to the outermost circle of hell. Why? Per theology, the redeemer wasn't born yet; all born earlier go to hell. The best humans born prior will go to the least hellish hell, the outermost one.
