Srinivasa Naik, a lobhi (miser) in the jewellery trade, after a divine play by Vittala on his wife's nose stud, gives up everything & becomes Puranthara Dasa. From no knowledge of music, he is gently guided to formulate the teaching practices of Sangeetham. The first Geetam learnt by Carnatic Sangeetham students is on Ganesha. He prostrated before Ganesha, and the impact reveals the Sa (Shadjam). A bee buzzing reveals Ri (Rishabam). He looks up & sees Ganesha as a Ma (Maha) Kari (huge elephant). The song starts as Sa Ri Ma Ga Ri.
